Dealfeng Rotor Sail Appeared in IMO International Shipping Week

Dealfeng New Energy Technology Ltd., as the first company in China to realize the commercial application of wind-rotor assisted propulsion system, was honored to be invited as one of the speakers at ShipZERO28 in the London International Shipping Week held at the International Maritime Organization HQ (IMO) from September 11 to 15, 2023. In the conference, Mr. Li Zhi, the CEO of Dealfeng New Energy Technology, introduced Dealfeng® Rotor Sail System to the guests on site, and stressing the progress of the rotor system CCS type approval, the retrofitting project of Dealfeng® Rotor Sail System installation on Offshore Oil Engineering Co., Ltd. (COOEC) 'HAY YANG SHI YOU 226' and the cooperation project of a new green energy-saving dual-fuel Aframax tanker developed with Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. At the same time, Dealfeng New Energy Technology was also invited to participate in the IMO's global GHG emissions reduction projects.



Mr. Arsenio Dominguez, the new Secretary-General of IMO, also attended the meeting and spoke on the same day, encouraging the participating representatives of shipping industry to take active actions and strive to achieve the goal of the 2023 IMO Strategy on Reduction of GHG Emissions from Ships (the 2023 IMO GHG Strategy) adopted at the MEPC80 meeting, especially focusing on the 'indicative checkpoints' in 2030. The pressure on the shipping industry in 2030 will be more urgent than the 2050 net-zero GHG emissions target, becasue it is difficult for a ship to achieve a 20% GHG emissions reduction in 2030 through operational measures, therefore, it prompts ship owners to consider or deploy low-carbon technologies or fuels in advance.

By then, Dealfeng will be the first company to obtain the type approval of the wind-rotor assisted propulsion system and the works approval of the rotor sail material in the world.



Dealfeng has the ability to manufacture and install rotor sails with a diameter of 2m/3m/4m/5m and a height of 8m-35m as well as fixed, folding and rail deployment three types foundation, also can provide one-stop total package service. Besides, the whole system of Dealfeng® Rotor Sail has independent intellectual property rights. Completely different from traditional ship energy-saving equipment, Dealfeng® Rotor Sail System introduces wind energy as an additional power source for the ship, which can achieve annual fuel saving of 5%-25% and effectively improve the energy efficiency indexes of ships such as EEDI/EEXI/CII.
